On 9 October 2025, we joined Rabab El Mahdy on Shabab Ala El Hawa, on Egyptian Channel Two. We were there as engineering students and the people building Softworks, talking about digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and what young people can make with the tools already around them.
The conversation moved from the phone in your pocket to the responsibility behind the systems we depend on. It also brought us back to our own beginning: two school friends who liked taking computers apart, wanted to understand how they worked, and kept following that curiosity into programming.
Make the everyday easier.
We started with familiar examples. A document you can reach on your phone. A payment you can make without a trip across town. Information that no longer has to travel from one person to another on a piece of paper. Digital transformation becomes easier to understand when you can see what it changes in an ordinary day.
For an organisation, the same idea goes further. Digital records can make work easier to follow, give teams a clearer view of what is happening, and reduce the time spent on repeated errands. That was the value we wanted to bring into the conversation: technology should make a useful difference to the people using it.

Faster work still needs judgment.
We spoke about AI as something that can help us learn and work. It gives you another way to ask a question, explore a subject, or find a starting point when you do not yet know where to begin. Learning how to use it is a practical skill worth developing.
We also made a point of checking its answers. An answer that sounds convincing still needs to be examined. Follow the source, compare the explanation, and keep your own understanding involved. Using AI well means taking responsibility for the result.
That responsibility applies to the systems around it, too. When the discussion turned to the risks of digitisation, we talked about disaster recovery and the need for another path when infrastructure fails. Planning for that failure belongs in the work from the beginning.
Curiosity needs practice.
When we were asked how we got here, the answer began well before university. We knew each other from school, enjoyed computers, and started teaching ourselves to build things. Over time, that interest became work, and the work became the reason to start a company together.
Our advice to other students came from that experience. Find something you care enough about to keep learning. Study beyond the course, build your skills, and spend time doing the practical work. Qualifications matter, and so does understanding what happens when you try to make something for someone else.

A local start. A wider ambition.
Starting while we were still students brought questions about age and experience. We spoke honestly about that, and about wanting to begin anyway. We wanted the work itself to show that young people in Egypt could build for people here and beyond it.
At the end of the interview, we were asked what we hoped would come next. We talked about reaching people outside Egypt and making programming and AI learning more accessible. Those were ambitions we shared, and they remain a useful direction for the studio.
We were glad to have the space to tell that story. If someone watching came away ready to ask a better question, learn a new skill, or start making something of their own, that is a good reason to have the conversation.
